PROJECTIONS

While projecting my slides, the most surprising change is probably the film I coated in PVA glue. When viewed through the slide viewer, all of the texture was lost, and apart from a few tiny air bubbles, the fact that the film had been altered at all, wasn’t obvious. However when put through the viewer, the areas where the glue was at its thickest turned to black smudges and the whole projection had a somewhat strange texture about it- a little cartoon-like.

Another of my favourites is the black papercut feather. I have curled the feather outwards to make it somewhat 3-dimensional, and I really enjoy the way the focus changes throughout the image. It’s an interesting effect that’s quite unexpected I think. I would definitely like to play more with projecting 3-dimensional objects.
