THE MOMENT OF RECOGNITION

Following on from the idea of the moment of recognition, one of my favourite pieces at Light Show was Jim Campbell's Exploded View. Sharing very similar principles to mine, in a highly technical and polished way. This piece, however, leaves more responsibility to the viewer. Whereas my current ideas lie with creating a 2-dimensional image from 3-dimensional means, this piece keeps it's 3-dimensional qualities.  I also like the ambiguity of the resulting image. The fact that the lights are different distances apart slightly distorts and blurs the image. But for me this is part of what I like about it. Light is ephemeral and atmospheric and I like pieces that work with its characteristics.
